How long has it been since you felt a bit of heaven in your earthly body? How recently have you felt soothed and nourished from the top of your head all the way down to your toes? Do you know how to gently relieve or decrease chronic or acute pain? How about taking a mini vacation from the stress in your life if you can't currently go on a regular vacation?

Massage therapy can produce produce many benefits for you. It can: improve your blood and lymph circulation; promote the relaxation of your muscles; promote your ability to experience an overall sense of relaxation and wellbeing; increase your mental clarity and alertness; decrease pain; decrease adhesions between your muscles and other tissues; promote your body's ability to form healthier scar tissue; promote a healthier state for your connective tissue; and enhance sports performance. There are several massage techniques that Deb uses, both in Milan and Batesville, Indiana. One type is chair massage or desktop massage. If you receive either type, you remain fully clothed and sit in a specially designed chair or rest your head and chest against a special desktop unit designed for massage while sitting in a regular chair. She massages you over your clothes. Normally no lotion, cream, or oil is used. The areas normally worked on in a full chair or desktop massage are your neck, shoulders, back, arms, hands, and posterior parts of the hips. A full chair or desktop massage normally lasts about 17 to 18 minutes.

Table massage and Swedish massage are the usual types that a person thinks of when she hears the word, "massage." Table massage usually involves the use of oil or cream or lotion on bare skin. The only part of your body uncovered (other than your face, scalp, and neck) when Deb does table massage is the part being worked on. Your privacy and modesty are well respected. The areas normally worked on in a full table massage include those listed in the previous paragraph as well as your legs, feet, and, if desired, scalp, face, and abdomen. A full-body table massage lasts about one hour, and an upper-body table massage lasts about one-half hour.

Other massage techniques that Deb can provide for you in Milan or Batesville, Indiana, whether you are on a table or a chair or using a desktop unit, are Therapeutic Touch, Jin Shin, geriatric massage, stress-relief massage, injury-healing massage, and massage that helps to prevent the recurrence of chronic conditions. Therapeutic Touch is a type of energy healing that is something like the laying on of hands, though it can be done with Deb holding her hands a couple of inches away from your body. Jin Shin is something like acupressure because they both involve her placing her hands on specific points on your body to enhance your body's energy flow and functioning. Pregnancy massage is a type that requires special care since the wellbeing of both the mother and baby must be taken into account. Swedish and integrated are massage techniques done on a table. Light, pressured strokes are used in Swedish massage, which is wonderful for the promotion of relaxation. Trigger point massage can be done on a table and/or chair and is a type of deep tissue massage. This technique helps to stretch, rebalance, and/or strengthen the body and to reduce pain. Cranio-sacral therapy is a gentle manipulation of the cranio-sacral system. The bones and the soft tissue of the cranium (or head), spine, and pelvis are what comprise this system. The membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord and help to protect them are also targeted during cranio-sacral work. The reflexology that Deb does deals with massaging specific reflex areas in the feet that correspond to other parts of the body. This type of foot massage stimulates organs of the body and relieves areas of congestion.
The business that Deb owns is called Medicine Hands Massage Therapy (at the Looking Glass Salon). "Medicine" in Native American spirituality denotes that which creates a sense of connectedness and frequently resides in Nature. Anything that gives you a feeling of being connected to Something Larger than yourself, such as hearing the ocean or seeing a beautiful sunset or hearing inspirational music, is medicine. Deb's ardent desire is that her hands will be medicine to you (whether at the Looking Glass Salon or at Ault Chiropractic) through the gift of massage.
