My Background
The business that I own- Medicine Hands Massage Therapy (at the
Looking Glass Salon)- is called that for a particular reason. "Medicine" in Native American spirituality denotes that which creates a sense of connectedness and frequently resides in Nature. Anything that gives you a feeling of being connected to Something Larger than yourself, such as hearing the ocean or seeing a beautiful sunset or hearing inspirational music, is medicine. My ardent desire is that my hands and heart will be medicine to you (whether at the Looking Glass Salon, Ault Chiropractic, or Strands Salon and Day Spa) through the gifts of massage and healing energy.

I have been a registered nurse for many years. I have both my bachelors and masters degrees in nursing. I have specialized in Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing Services and have mostly worked as a registered nurse in that area since. However, I have also had some medical/surgical experience and university teaching experience since becoming a registered nurse.

In 2002 I returned to school and became a certified massage therapist. I earned 528 hours in massage therapy and finished in June, 2003. I am now certified in both Indiana and Kentucky. Since 2003 I have worked at Ault Chiropractic in Batesville, Indiana. There I have been providing specific therapeutic massage, rehabilitative massage, pain-relief massage, stress-relief massage, injury-healing massage, and massage that helps to prevent the recurrence of chronic conditions. I provide similar services and spa therapies through my own business, Medicine Hands Massage Therapy, at the Looking Glass Salon in Milan, Indiana and at Strands Salon and Day Spa in Batesville, Indiana.

One of the main reasons for my becoming a psychiatric/ mental health registered nurse was to help ease the mental/emotional pain and suffering of another person. For many years I have also been interested in the mind-body-emotional connection. One of the main reasons for my becoming a massage therapist was to help ease the physical pain and suffering of a person through the power of touch. However, as I increasingly learn to use touch in an educated and compassionate manner, I aim, in addition, to decrease any emotional pain and stress stored in a person's physical body and to increase the person's overall sense of wellbeing.

I am a member of several professional organizations. They include the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals, the National Association of Nurse Massage Therapists (go to http://www.nanmt.org/DVierling.html), Nurse Healers-Professional Associates, the American Nurses Association,  Sigma Theta Association (the National Honor Society of Nursing), the Association of Humanistic Psychology, and the Better Business Bureau of Cincinnati.

I am a Massage Therapist happily serving Batesville, Newpoint, Oldenberg, Sunman, Milan, Napoleon, Osgood, Greensburg, and Dillsboro, Indiana.
